The One Like a Sit-Com
This was a real corker; a fifteen minute film for a pensions company, giving basic info about the product to new audiences. Putting across financial stuff is tricky – there are tight boundaries around what can or can’t be said. You have to negotiate the compliance minefield but if you’re not quick on your feet then everything gets very slow and dull. So we had to be a bit clever.
To get away from the pie-charts and the naff graphics we came up with a radical solution – to write a sitcom, in which the actors played out a scenario to get the information across.
We had to get together an experienced drama team to come up with a script and a production that would work. But, most importantly, we had to take the client along. We made sure they stayed with us every step of the way. Once we got them going on the concept there were no surprises, and they were soon happily adding ideas and getting into it. We were lucky to have them, and they say they were lucky to have us.
